Amazon 2-step verification process for sellers – simple guide

After implementing a two-step verification for buyers, Amazon is now taking care of their sellers security as well. In order to ensure that your Amazon seller account is protected against unauthorized access, or in case your password gets stolen, Amazon started implementing a 2-step verification process.

Note that if you don’t finish verification of your account by today (30th of June) there is a possibility that Amazon might disable your account.

What is a 2-step verification?

Consider this 2-step verification process as another layer of protection of your seller’s account. The process is pretty straightforward, but to make sure you go through it correctly it, just follow these few simple steps.

2-step verification process

First:

Download the application, that generates codes for 2-step verification process, on your phone from Google play store (if you are an Android user) or App Store (for iOS) – we chose Google Authenticator, but there are many other that you can choose from.

Second:

Log in to your sellers account as you normally would, and you will see a button that says “enable two-step verification”. After enabling it a bar code will appear. Use the authentication app to scan the bar code.

Third:

When the app recognizes the bar code it will show you the 6 digit code that you’ll need in order to complete the verification process. Be quick to enter the code, because it changes every 30 seconds.

And you are all set!

Additional step: There is an option “Don’t ask for codes on this device” that will add your computer/tablet permanently to a list of trusted devices that you use to access your seller account.

Happy selling!
